Try our simple tips on how to twist safely in the garden!
Hi this is Dana Ranahan from Body Works Physiotherapy and today we’re out shovelling and moving some dirt.
One of the things I want you to pay attention to, we’ve already talked about careful approaching the dirt, now I want talk about not rotating your body with a load. So when you go to shovel something, if you then rotate and keep your feet planted, it’s quite a twist on your hips and back. So what we want you to work on is turning your feet and dropping the load so that you can use your legs and your core to stabilize and protect your back. So that tip is turn your feet, try not to turn your back.
