One of the biggest questions we get asked at our clinic is “Do I need a referral from my doctor for Physiotherapy?”
The answer is no. We are primary care providers and can fully assess and treat your injury. We do work closely with your family physician and other health care team members however, to help provide the best care possible. We will occasionally refer you back to see your physician for further testing, such as an x-ray, if there are any concerns that are found during your assessment or treatment.

Hi this is Dana Ranahan from Body Works Sports Physiotherapy in North Vancouver and I’m here today to answer a question that we get asked quite regularly in the clinic. And the question is, do I need a referral to come for physiotherapy? And the answer is no, you don’t need a referral from your doctor to come for physiotherapy treatment.
We do have primary access to Care and we do work with your physician and will refer you back with x-rays or special tests or other investigations if there are concerns but we can see you without a referral for most cases. So if you have any other questions, if you have an injury or some pain or nagging things that you need taken care of why don’t you give us a call and we can get to the root of your problem right away.
