Okay, today we’re going to talk about the core. What is the core? So we have Holly here from our clinic at Body Works and we’re going to talk a little bit about what is the core before we show you how to use it.
So we have an inner core and an outer core and effectively the inner core is usually what’s weakest for most people and we want to learn how to use that.
So the inner core comprises of a muscle that runs horizontally kind of like a girdle across the abdomen and it’s a deep muscle that acts as a girdle and when it contracts it helps stabilize the spine.
The diaphragm works almost like an upside down umbrella, like the roof of the core and we have the pelvic floor muscles that form the floor of the core and some deep muscles around the back that help and they all work together synergistically to help stabilize and control the spine.
