SPRING IS HERE, which means the beginning of gardening season!

Here are a few smart tips to avoid joint pain, aching muscles and injuries! Your back will thank you!

1. STRETCH BEFORE YOU START.
Loosen up to prevent injuries. Take a walk around the block, do some yoga or partake in light stretching.

2. USE YOUR LEGS TO LIFT.
When lifting, keep your back straight by either hinging at your hips or bending at your knees. Always carry the load close to your body and avoid twisting.

3. TAKE A BREAK SO YOU WON’T ACHE.
Give yourself and your back a break. As a rule-of-thumb, take a rest or stretch break at least three times an hour. Drink fluids frequently.
